35% of Spanish workers do not want to telework any day

Some of the data provided by the Limeade Institute survey contrasts with that collected by a recent Ipsos analysis, carried out among 12,445 workers from 29 countries. According to the research company, the percentage of Spanish professionals who telework has increased 12 points since the start of the pandemic, standing at 25% of the active population that carries out their functions in this modality. Generally speaking, people prefer to work more in person than from home after the pandemic. 35% of the Spanish workforce affirms that they do not want to telework on any day and only 18% would prefer to do it every day. The trend in all countries is to have a flexible working day, where the face-to-face and home modality can be combined, with 64% of those surveyed globally declaring this, a percentage similar to that of Spain (67%). The preference would be to be able to telecommute between 2 or 3 days a week. In Spain, the average is 2 days, which places it among the countries that least prefer teleworking together with European countries such as Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Poland.

The preference for mixed working hours may be due to different factors. 65% claim to be more productive if they have flexible hours, a percentage that rises three points (68%) in the case of Spain. In fact, 38% of the people interviewed admit that at home it is difficult to be productive, something that 34% of the Spanish workforce also declare. Another reason for wanting to return to work in person is to be close to colleagues. In this sense, half of those surveyed (52%) affirm that they miss them, a similar percentage to that of Spain (47%).

In line with the conclusions of the Limeade Institute, teleworking seems to also promote detachment from work, since 37% of the global employees surveyed by Ipsos state this, 24% in the case of Spain.
