90% of travelers use their mobile on vacation to access social networks

According to the survey, nearly 1 in 10 travelers (8%) admits to using social media on their vacations to “make their friends jealous” and 11% say “it wouldn’t be a vacation if my friends didn’t know I’m enjoying it.”

Indians (37%) and Indonesians (30%) are the most likely to show off on social media during holidays, while Spanish (8%), Greek (5%) and Italian (8%) travelers are the least they brag about their vacation.

A quarter of global travelers used social media to plan their last trip, to get recommendations (72%), view photos and videos of desired destinations (67%), search for things to do and see in the destination (60%) and to search for deals (45%).

According to the study, 61% of global travelers also heavily use social media during their vacations in order to keep in touch with their friends and family. The study reveals that 57% of Spanish travelers use social networks during their trip and are significantly more likely to use social networks to obtain recommendations (81%).
