LG has announced in a statement its decision to exit the mobile telephony sector, which it describes as “highly competitive”, this summer. What will happen to those that are already on the market?
LG will stop manufacturing mobile phones around the world, as the company has stated in a statement issued this Monday mobile no information india, when the board of directors has approved this turnaround. One of the oldest mobile phone manufacturers has made official its decision to close this division and thus exit this sector, which they describe as “highly competitive”.
As stated by the Korean firm, it is an action aimed at being able to focus on other different areas that are in full expansion, such as electric vehicles, smart homes, robotics or artificial intelligence.
This resolution will be effective on July 31, but from the brand they state that users who already have an LG mobile do not have to worry at the moment. “LG will provide service support and software updates to product customers for a period of time that will vary by region,” the company states. “LG will work in collaboration with suppliers and business partners during the closure of the mobile phone business,” they continue to explain.
In this sense, the closure of the aforementioned division should not affect in any way the software support or the availability of spare parts and after-sales services, information that Xataka has been able to confirm.
However, it should be noted that LG wants to continue to be present in the mobile data market and does not want to completely disassociate itself from 5G, for example. This was explained in the official statement:
“In the future, LG will continue to leverage its mobile expertise and develop technologies, such as 6G, to help further strengthen competitiveness in business environments. The technologies developed during the two decades of business operations in the mobile sector will also be maintained and applied to existing and future products. socialposts
