Setting Visitor and Phone Call Boundaries While in the Hospital

If you or someone you love is in the hospital, you already have a lot on your plate. It can be draining both physically and emotionally. During this time you need to know your limits and boundaries regarding visitors and phone calls and stay within your boundaries to eliminate any added stress.

The first thing that you can do is to create a telephone chain. Only put one or two people at the top of your contact list. Make sure that they are somebody reliable, someone that will get the information straight and achat de liste de contact pass it on to everyone else. Perhaps they could call some of the other people on your list and then ask those people to contact other people. It is hard to answer the same questions over and over again, so having someone else field those questions is very helpful.

If you are tired and don’t feel like visitors or only feel like certain visitors, then let others know that you appreciate their caring offer or kind actions but that you just need some alone time. If you can’t do this, then ask a nurse to post a sign on your door or ask people to leave because it is “doctor’s orders”. This way you don’t have to worry about offending anyone (although they should understand). Your hospital might have policies regarding visiting and phone calls depending on why you are in the hospital, so you could refer back to the hospital policy if you just can’t say “no”.
